OVATION CD8 in brief
OVATION CD8T in brief
OVATION CD8D in brief
In the typical look of the Ovation Line, the CD8 is an impressive appearance. Built of solid, thick aluminum parts the sensitive electronics is safely protected inside. Incoming digital signals with max. resolution 192/24 are processed on the digital inputs as well as redbook standard signals from the built-in CD drive. The slot-in mechanism is a Pure-CD drive spring mounted and completely capsuled. Second to none is the processing of the digital signals in balanced DA Converters separated for both channels. The digital signal is master clocked with thermo stabilized PLL quartzes of the highest grade to give a firm and stable time base to all conversion stages.
The CD8 is a typical AVM Ovation masterpiece: Reduced-to-the-max design, built of the best materials available. All functions of the CD8 may be operated intuitively. Various set-up menus allow specific settings of most parameters, i.e. dimmed display or individual naming of inputs (only CD8 and CD8T). The perfectly machined housing is built without visible screws and consists of 8mm thick aluminum parts, carefully polished and anodized. Standard versions are silver or black, the typical chrome front is available as an option. Other customizations are available upon request. The massive RC3 aluminum remote control is always included. The connectivity of the CD8 and CD8T leave no question unanswered. So it may also be used as an excellent DA converter for other digital sources. The CD8 offers a variety of digital connections: 2 x USB (1 x 192/24 asynchronous, 1 x 48/24), 2 x SPDIF coaxial, 2 x SPDIF opt. and one AES EBU digital input. All digital signals are put thru a ample rate conversion (SRC) stage and possible Jitter is stripped off. This signal is then fed into the excellent DA conversion section using two DA converters per channel. Even the digital signal is processed in fully balanced mode. The SNR is dramatically increased by this effort. The CD8 and CD8T allow switchable sampling rates in 7 increments: 44/16, 44/24, 48/24, 88/24, 96/24, 176/24 and 192/24 kHz. Digital filter characteristics may be switched between sharp and smooth. CD8T sparks the so called Ovation tube line stage. This amplification stage is based, as the name suggests, on a tube equipped amplifier stage. It utilizes 6H30 tubes. CD8D: This version of the CD8 is designed as pure CD transport and sparks 4 digital outputs: 1 x BNC, 1 x AES/EBU, 1 x SPDIF optical, 1 x SPDIF coaxial. The ideal playing partner for the CD8D is the PA8 equipped with the DAC module. Like all AVM hi-fi components the CD8 is carefully developed and assembled by our engineers in Malsch, Germany. Our vendors for housing and electronic parts reside all near-by. This proximity helps us to easily ensure and maintain superb quality level of the supplied parts for the AVM hi-fi components made of these. DA conversion technology: Cutting edge digital technologies are applied in the CD8 family. The D/A conversion for both channels is executed by two D/A Converters per channel operated in mono/mono mode. By this extraordinary effort the SNR is reduced to the theoretical minimum. The sample rate conversion (SRC) allows switchable sampling rates between 441 and 192 kHz. The filter characteristics may be switched between sharp and smooth. With the SRC the sampling rate frequency is completely re-generated and entirely stripped from jitter. The PureCD slot-in drive is suspension mounted and acoustically shielded against external influences. Additionally it is mounted in a heavy, inert mass block effectively insulating it from footfall. During the manufacturing process we perform repeatedly numerous tests to insure the absolute quality of our products. When the assembling is finished and the first inspection is done all units must pass a run in test in order to prove their reliability. After that a careful final inspection follows before packing & shipping. All this ensures creating a perfect product from AVM for our customers. All production is done with the almost all our vendors from the vicinity. |
